The United States of America has had her share of enemies throughout
her history and has endure many conflicts and fought several major wars.
And she did so proudly. She won many of these battles because of her
resourceful and patriotic citizenry, her massive industrial complex, her
very capable, and feared, modern military, and her stellar leadership,
starting at the presidential level and making its way through the halls
of Congress and the Pentagon.
When faced with a serious threat,
or war, she has always prevailed when she was led by a strong and
confident and courageous leader. When she was led by weaker, and less
capable, leaders, she faltered. This is when the country suffered great
humility and a loss of prestige.
Today, America is faced with
several major threats, some from her more traditional antagonists, such
as Russia and China and North Korea. In addition to these countries, she
is being targeted by Islamic Fundamentalists. So, where is our
president? Where are our leaders on Capitol Hill? Where are our great
strategists in the Pentagon? And where is the CIA and NSA?
The
irony of it all is that while Russia and China are building up their
military forces on a grand scale. and flexing their muscles, while
simultaneously expanding their affluence around the world, America's
military is being downsized and quietly defanged and demoralized. It's a
fact.
In an article posted September 10, 2015 on Foxnews.com, it
was made clear that Russia's military build-up in Assad-controlled
Syria, was universally considered "unprecedented" -- with others
comparing it in scope to Vladimir Putin's incursion into Crimea.
In
the wonderful world of Islam, ISIS, whom the American president so
fondly labeled the 'junior varsity', and assured us, and the world, that
it was contained, attacked Paris, France within 24 hours of the
American president's comments. Well over 120 innocent people were
slaughtered and 320 plus wounded as a result of that massacre.
Our
enemies within the infamous world of Islamic Jihad are numerous. But
Islamic Jihad is nothing new to America. Over the years, she has faced
down terroist groups such as the PLO, Black September, Fattah, Hamas,
Hezbollah, the Muslim Brotherhood, the Taliban, Jama'atu Ahlis Sunna
Lidda'Awati Wal-Jihad (or Boko Haram), al Qaeda, Al-Shabaab and now
ISIS.
Most of these groups continue to give us fresh insight into
the warped minds and hearts of those who practice this faith and remain
hell-bent on exporting death and mayhem to the free world.
What
makes them so dangerous is that their emissaries are religious fanatics
who could care less about life, liberty, and self-preservation. They
have no sense of humanity. Their mission is to bring Islam to the four
corners of the world. If that fails, then they’ll visit the wrath of
Allah on all nonbelievers and by any means necessary.
Their
tactics remain raw, cold, and brutal, and in most cases…deadly. Their
victims are usually the weak and those unable to defend themselves. More
than anything, they hate freedom and freedom lovers, meaning
westerners.
But unlike George Washington, who led us to victory
during the Revolutionary War, and Abraham Lincoln, who guided us through
the Civil War, and Franklin Roosevelt, who put us on the road to
victory before Harry Truman stepped up and took the helm after
Roosevelt's death, our current Commander In Chief seems to be missing in
action.
This is not America's first time feeling the sting of
battle. We've had generals and admirals and presidents and those serving
in the halls of Congress, who have served in battle or presided over it
and won.
Our history is replete with strong leaders from her
proud past, such as, John F. Kennedy, who faced down Russia and its
dynamic, and eccentric leader, Nikita Khrushchev, during the Cuban
Missile Crisis. There was Ronald Reagan, who ended the Cold War along
with General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union
Mikhail Gorbachev, at least temporarily, and at a time when no one
conceived it would ever end.
Finally, there was George H Bush,
who took on Saddam Hussein during the Gulf War and defeated him on the
battlefield. After that, his son, George W Bush, took on the Taliban and
Al Qaeda, and eventually Iraq's diabolical dictator Saddam Hussein,
after the 9/11 attacks. It is ironic, and interesting, that
Amercans appear mesmerized by Vladimir Putin, Russia's president, who
sounds confidant and defiant in his speeches about Islamic terrorists.
Americans do not hear this from their current president.
Putin
is not the only leader who has talked tough and taken a strong stand
against Islamic Jihadists. Before that, Americans heard an angry
Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, the Jordanian King, quote an American icon’s
famous movie line meant to be taken as a promised threat after one of
his pilots was tortured and burned alive by ISIS.
In the
Oscar-winning 1992 film, Unforgiven, Eastwood’s character, William
Munny, pledges revenge against two cowboys who had attacked a
prostitute. “Any man I see out there, I’m gonna kill him,” Munny
promises. “Any son of a bitch takes a shot at me, I’m not only going to
kill him, I’m going to kill his wife and all his friends and burn his
damn house down.”
It was not said which quote the furious king
used behind closed doors but several sources say it was the one quoted
above made famous by movie legend Clint Eastwood.
Compare this
leader's defiant, decisive, and no nonsense response to the lukewarm
platitudes Obama gave when several of our citizens were beheaded. Obama
came off as dispassionate, aloof, uninspiring, and indifferent the times
he responded to attacks on Americans by Muslim terrorists.
While
our president procrastinated, and sounded apologetic, Jordan executed
two of the prisoners ISIS wanted freed, and then made it known that this
was but the tip of the iceberg in their expression of retribution for
the loss of their citizen and war hero. A response like this unlikely to
ever happen under this current American president.
Going back
to George Washington, being an American president meant preserving the
country's borders and its integrity. It meant upholding the laws given
to us by our Founding Fathers. It meant protecting America and
Americans. It meant standing tall. It meant understaning that this
country is exceptional and powerful.
Sadly, Barack Obama’s view
of America remains condescending. In his eyes, and mind, America is at
the root of the ills and evils of the world. In his mind, we are greedy
capitalists; and profane, uncaring and selfish opportunists.
This
is a president who looks upon our military superiority with contempt
and is hell bent on weakening it. And the times he is forced to use it,
he makes sure that their hands are tied behind their back with PC
quiding, and often dictating, the rules of engagement that favor our
enemies, not our men and women in uniform.
Americans expect
their president to defend, preserve, and uphold our Constitution. The
president's job is to preserve the liberties enshrined within our Bill
of Rights. We also expect the president to honor the will of the people
when that will is in line with the principles of our US Constitution.
This
president seems to loathe our free enterprise system. Socialism is the
means by which he intends to achieve his goal of redistributing
America's wealth. Some believe he is a narcissist, a pathological liar,
and a slick meister. His administration seems more interested in the
welfare of illegal aliens than natural born and naturalized Americans.
His policies seem to run contrary to our culture and our way of life.
So,
the question remains, is this president serious about leading. Is he
serious about listening to the people, or is he more interested in
imposing his will, and progressive agenda, on us.
Americans are
hungry for a president who is bold and courageous, and has superb
leadership qualities, muh like that Jordanian king, not someone who has
an apologetic mindset. So, where are our leaders today?
What we
need is a Washington, a Jackson, a Truman, a Lincoln, or a Reagan back
in office, especially when dealing with rogue terrorist groups.
Leadership
and toughness is something accomplished actors Clint Eastwood, Humphrey
Bogart, John Wayne, Yul Brynner, Charlton Heston and Robert Mitchum,
understand, even in their Hollywood movie roles. Oh, how I miss the good
ole days.
