TRAYVON MARTIN

TRAYVON MARTIN
1. This is a very tragic event and while I do not know the facts, I do know that relying on FB and blogs for information is not correct. With that in mind, there are some steps that should be taken immediatelly.
2. Govornor Rick Scott should appoint Everett Rice as interim Chief of the  Sanford Police Depatment. Sheriff Rice is honest and has stepped in to clean up troubled police organizations in Florida before. He is also a former legislator and his calm hand can provide reason in this situation.
3. The Sanford Police department already blew this situation by not making an arrest. The same rule that aplies in a domestic violence call should apply when a dead person is present. An arrest should have been made on the spot.
4. The Florida Commission for Human Relations, on which I served as a past Commissioner, must hold an emergency meeting, along with the Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi to see what if any internal controls was missed by Seargents on the scene.
5. Failure by any leadership in Florida to handle this and abdicate its complete role to The FBI and Justice Department is just weak.
