Success is Colorblind
Five Basic Steps to Success
Step One-The Vision

Using the power of decision gives you the capacity to get past any excuse to change any and every part of your life in an instant. – Anthony Robbins

The first step to becoming successful is choosing to do so. You must want it so much that it hurts. You must  not be afraid to fail. No matter what you choose to do, God will send you the message through three unrelated messengers. Let say you desire to run a pizzeria. On a Friday night, just sitting around your apartment with friends, someone in the group will become serious and say that you should open a pizzeria. Several weeks later, perhaps in a mall, another person you do not even know will say something very similar to the first person, and the less than five minutes later during a phone conversation, you will hear this vision from another person. Go for It.

Step Two- Taking Action

The more action you take, the more progress you make. The more you do. -  George Farrell

Using the power of decision gives you the capacity to get past any excuse to change any and every part of your life in an instant. – Anthony Robbins

Step two is taking action. This is walking on faith, backed by facts. Lets say you start to take action by researching the pizzeria business. You research Papa John and Dominoes franchises along with starting from scratch. As you move forward, many people, seemingly out of nowhere, will start to help you. Some only for a day, some for months. A leasing agent will offer six months with no rental payments; your grandmother will secretly give you ten thousand dollars. Many things will fall into place. Miracles are happening. Do not forget to tithe.

Step Three-Achieving
Always do more than is required of you. – George Patton

Opening day. You did it with help of a lot of others.
And you did it without a bank loan. Now comes the hard part. Working eighteen-hour days without a day off. No more weekends. During this period, you may loose some friends as you become a focused more serious person. Make sure that you really love what you are doing because this is the only fun you will have for the next two years. If you are blessed, you may make a profit in your first year. Lets hope so because there is no turning back. Now the bankers show up because you are making daily consistent deposits. Ask them for an unsecured line of credit. If they say no, tell them to come back when they will.
Prior to any big achievement, everything will go wrong. Your car will breakdown, your wife will loose her mind, your best friend will get arrested for driving under the influence, and your children will end up in the emergency room. Understand, all of these distractions are test to see if you can stay focused and finish. Finish the task and all of the distractions will solve themselves.

Step Four- Self Destruction
TIGER WOODS; PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON; JESSE JACKSON
There are three types of Self destruction that destroys lives, careers and families.

SEX, DRUGS, including alcohol or BOTH

Your success has changed you. You have different friends. You walk taller and are more decisive in your speech and mannerisms. Trust me, even if you are four hundred pounds with a case of bad acne, women, mainly low class tramps, will notice. Everyone is in your pockets. This is the most dangerous period for you. No one is exempt. Bill Clinton, Jesse Jackson, Marion Barry, Pastor Ted Haggard and even Martin Luther King, Jr. have failed here. You must recognize when you are becoming self-destructive and avoid the behavior or handle it. That’s why there are cities like Las Vegas. Do your dirt alone.

Dr. Henry Lyons is a classic case of self-destructive behavior. Remember, a Black man is always a suspect, even a powerful preacher.
Reverend Doctor Henry J Lyons
In September of 1994, The Reverend Doctor Henry J. Lyons became the President of the National Baptist Convention. A position he coveted his whole life. But who knew that he was entering the self–destructive phase of success. Dr. Lyons started down this slippery slope by smoking weed. Add to that the fact that he was committing adultery, and you have a classic case of self–destructive behavior.
On July 7, 1997, Deborah Lyons, Henry’s wife, set fire to a mansion in which Dr. Lyons was housing his girlfriend. It is never a good idea to buy your girlfriend a bigger house than your wife. But Rev. Lyons, prior to becoming president of the National
Baptist Convention, through a group of non-profits and the church he headed, had tied up development and limited progress in his south St. Petersburg, Florida neighborhood for years. In August of 1997, United States Attorney Charles Wilson launches a federal investigation. In February of 1999, the Reverend Doctor Henry Lyons is found guilty of grand theft and racketeering and sentenced to over five years in federal prison.

I thought this was one of the worst self destructive acts ever until  Steve McNair.  Alcohol and sex  put this former NFL athlete on a self destructive path cost him his life and disgraced his family.

According to Wikipedia "On July 4, 2009, McNair was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds, along with the body of a young woman named Sahel "Jenni" Kazemi, in a condominium rented by McNair, at 105 Lea Avenue in downtown Nashville.McNair had been shot twice in the body and twice in the head, with only one of the shots coming from closer than three feet. Kazemi had a single gunshot wound to the head, which was proved to have been fired from a gun that was held to her temple. McNair was believed to have been asleep on the couch when the shooting occurred. The bodies were discovered by McNair's friends Wayne Neely and Robert Gaddy, who called 911. The Nashvile Police Department declared McNair's death a murder-suicide, with Kazemi as the perpetratorand  McNair as the victim. The 9-mm gun used was found under Kazemi's body and later tests revealed "trace evidence of (gunpowder) residue on her left hand."Kazemi had a worsening financial situation and also suspected that McNair was in another extramarital relationship"

Step Five- Correction

Regardless of how you feel inside, always try to look like a winner. Even if you are behind, a sustained look of control and confidence can give you a mental edge that results in victory. – Arthur Ashe

Correcting or avoiding self-destructive behavior is the hardest thing you will ever do. Colin Powell may have been the only man known to avoid this. Pray a lot. I am at peace when I am boating. For me, I take my boat out right before dusk, cut the motor and drift. This is when I pray for strength.
If you can survive a self–destructive period without destroying your marriage, loosing tons of money, or becoming a criminal suspect, you can move on to your next conquest.
Step one to avoiding self destructive behavior is avoiding Drugs and alcohol.
Step two is controlling sexual urges, the second is much harder than the first.
